Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nutritional Therapy?

The British Association of Nutrition + Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) defines Nutritional Therapy as the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care.

What is the difference between a Dietician and a Nutritional Therapist?

Dieticians are regulated healthcare professionals trained to manage clinical nutrition and medical conditions, whereas Nutritional Therapists provide personalised, holistic nutritional and lifestyle guidance aimed at improving general health and wellbeing but do not replace medical advice or treatment.

What is your training and qualification?

I completed a 3 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. My diploma is in Naturopathic Nutrition and I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist.

I am registered with BANT as a Nutritionist and with CNHC (The Complementary + Natural Healthcare Council) as a Nutritional Therapist, and am fully insured.

I have a VTCT Level 2 in Facial Massage and Skincare and a VTCT Level 3 in Facial Electrics.

What sorts of tests do you recommend?

There are some common markers to test nutrient status that I often recommend, and these are blood tests which sometimes your GP can arrange for you, if indicated by symptoms you are experiencing, or diagnosed conditions you live with. If these tests are not available via your GP, I can recommend private laboratories that can carry them out for you.

There are other tests I may recommend depending on your health concerns or goals. These may include saliva, stool or swabs. These will be discussed with you during your consultation.

How do I know the supplements you recommend are safe?

I only work with a small number of reputable supplement companies, whose products I know and trust. I prioritise quality supplements that are well absorbed and utilised in the body, and that don’t include any un-necessary additives such as artificial flavours, binders or bulking agents. I also make sure that the supplements I recommend are third-party tested for purity.

It’s important that you always tell me about any supplements or medications that you’re already taking so I can check for interactions or contraindications. Supplements are always reviewed at regular intervals in follow up consultations.

Can a personalised nutrition plan really improve the appearance of my skin?

Yes - a personalised nutrition plan can significantly improve the appearance of your skin. Tailored nutrition and lifestyle strategies take into account your personal biology, life-stage and how you live, as well as your individual drivers for your skin concerns - whether they are inflammation, adolescent or perimenopausal hormonal fluctuations, dehydration, glycation and oxidative stress. This comprehensive approach results in sustainable, results-driven advice and guidance that actually makes a difference to skin health and appearance over time.

Because of my expertise in nutrition and my training as a facialist, I can uniquely provide holistic support, including facial treatments and skincare advice alongside personalised nutrition plans for improved skin health and appearance.

Is Nutritional Therapy suitable for me if I’m taking medication or have a pre-existing health condition?

Often, very much so, and nutritional therapy can complement medical management of conditions or symptoms. However, I do always recommend booking an introductory call so we can discuss your health and any medications you’re currently taking. If I can’t support you, I will let you know and if possible will suggest an alternative practitioner.
